The Fire

St. Mary parish suffered a large fire on Thursday, 5/16.  The fire was noticed and called into the fire department sometime between 6:15 and 6:30 PM.  Nine different fire companies responded to the blaze, and the fire was put out after about 4-5 hours.  A smaller fire broke out again about 4:00 AM the next morning from the smoldering roof area; this was quickly contained and put out by crews that were continuing to monitor the situation.

Everyone in our parish community wants to know as much as possible about the state of our Church building and the estimations for repair.  Our office and staff are working as diligently as possible to coordinate all emergency work and to try to inform parishioners as quickly and comprehensively as we can as to all status of all Church property.  Please be patient; as soon as we know things, we will share them with the rest of the community.

Please also understand that we have not been able to respond to all emails directed to us at this time.  We are juggling normal activities, with rescheduling our Church events, and dealing with the ongoing investigation and repair work.  Any unanswered email is not a deliberate attempt to ignore requests for information; we simply do not have enough hands to respond individually to each email at this time.

We will be posting the latest information to this website from here on out.  The information that we publish on the website includes the correct information; many of the rumors that have been swirling around Facebook and social media are not accurate.  Please be assured that we are not withholding any information from our parishioners, and if you hear about an important piece of "news" from another source that is not published here, it is most likely incorrect.

Thank you for your continued prayers and support for our community.  Relying on the strength of our Lord and His blessed mother, we will triumph over this difficult time.  God bless you.
