First, some pictures of the flames. Mostly all that spectators saw was the smoke, as little fire was actually seen.
There was certainly a lot of smoke.
Our heroes never got tired.
The Church tower lights even turned on as the blaze was being fought!
And there was a waterfall out the front steps when the church doors were opened.
