Latest News (Monday, 5/27)

There are not a lot of new developments in the church over the last few days, but we will share what we can.

  • Cause-and-origin experts spent Friday morning investigating the building, but still cannot find a cause.  They will return again this week for more investigations.
  • The roof has been patched throughout the church.  The only remaining area to be unpatched is the roof right above the tabernacle.  This cannot be touched, because the cause of the fire is still undetermined, and so the investigation is still ongoing.  Pray, then, for sunshine, so we do not have to deal with more water in the church!
  • The sacristy has been emptied of all furniture.  Items located in the closets were kept in them, as the closets were undamaged.
  • The carpet has now been removed from the sanctuary.  So finally, the carpet appears to be gone from the entire church!  The only carpet to remain in the church is (1) underneath the scaffolding supports (which cannot be seen); (2) underneath big items (such as the altar or the lift); and (3) in the tabernacle area (which is still under investigation).
  • The tile in the sacristy and the tile in the aisles underneath the carpeting has been removed as well.  Original wood flooring is now visible in all parts of the church.
  • Heat is being pumped into the church from large machines in an attempt to dry the wood flooring and preserve it.

Other news will come as it is available.
